Thriving Villages of the Macedon Ranges
Tourism Macedon Ranges (TMR) launched the Macedon Ranges Thriving Villages Project in 2024 to support the growth and vitality of local villages across the region. Recognising that thriving communities depend on vibrant villages, this initiative aims to create meaningful change, boost local economies, and enhance community wellbeing.
The project involves collaborative workshops with village representatives to identify key opportunities and challenges, forming the basis for a Regional Vision & Roadmap. Subsequently, individual villages will develop Town Centre Activation Plans focused on practical, achievable actions to revitalise their town centers, leveraging each community’s unique strengths.
Town Centre Action Plans have been delivered for several villages, including Lancefield, Romsey, Riddells Creek, and Malmsbury, with plans underway for others to join. TMR encourages interested villages to express their interest and seek funding support to develop their own activation plans.
Supported by a partnership with Macedon Ranges Shire Council and working with placemaking experts Village Well, the project emphasises community involvement, local pride, and proactive initiatives to ensure the Macedon Ranges remains a thriving and welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike.
